OBPS readiness for Ontario manufacturers,
built from the facility documents you already have.

“Audit-ready” means source-linked, factor-referenced, assumption-labeled, and gap-flagged — not a guarantee of auditor approval.

Estimate your OBPS obligation with the free calculator, then send one MTC, fuel slip, utility bill, LIMS export, or SAP extract. We return the factor used, the assumptions made, the source lineage, and the gaps an auditor or OEM will ask about.

Watch a sample bill get triaged.

Pick a fictional sample. A vision model reads the document type and the billed usage; OCR independently checks that the same figure is printed on the page; the deterministic engine calculates emissions only when both agree.

Timings are measured on this request and include network time. Vision and OCR run in parallel.

Know where your facility stands under OBPS.

The federal Output-Based Pricing System sets each covered facility's annual obligation from its production and emissions against a sector performance standard. VantageHSG gives you an estimate now, and keeps the inputs behind it traceable to their source.

Obligation estimate

Choose a sector, enter production and emissions, and get an estimated annual obligation. The calculator covers the sectors in its library. It is an estimate, not a filing.

Five-year exposure

The carbon pricing exposure matrix projects OBPS and carbon tax liability for your facility over five years.

Traceable inputs

Each input keeps its link to the document, factor version, and assumption behind it, so the obligation can be explained to a verifier.

Model your five-year exposure →

Every number traces to a source, a factor, and an assumption.

Verifiers and OEMs ask where a number came from, not only what it is. Each ledger row links to its source document, factor version, assumptions, and any gaps the verifier should review.

Input

Diesel fuel slip: date, supplier, volume in litres, facility reference.

Extracted fields

4,872 L • Acme Fuels • Hamilton Plant 2 • Slip date 2025-03-12

Factor applied

ECCC National Inventory Report diesel factor, NIR-2026 edition (inventory year 2024): 2.689 kg CO₂e per litre.

Calculation and output

4,872 L × 2.689 kg CO₂e/L = 13.10 tCO₂e Scope 1. The ledger row records the factor version, source document reference, assumptions, and flagged gaps.

Example figures. The sample report shows the full chain: every number back to the slip you sent.

Scope 3 data from suppliers goes into the same lineage.

Suppliers submit energy, fuel, product footprint, and certificate data through a link you send them. No account is needed. Each submission is reviewed before it is accepted, and accepted figures are used in your Scope 3 numbers.

Invite by link

Suppliers open a token link to submit. Invites expire, and suppliers do not need to create an account.

Structured forms

Facility energy, fuel use, product carbon footprint, renewable certificate, and deforestation declaration. Up to five files per submission, 10 MB each.

Admin review

Admins accept or reject each submission. Accepting one with production volume creates a supplier-specific factor that replaces the EEIO estimate in Scope 3 Category 1.

Document extraction is how the data gets in, not the product.

Extraction reads the fields from what your facilities already produce. The lineage and audit ledger are what get reported.

Digital PDFs

The text layer of a digital PDF is read directly: mill test certificates, fuel slips, and utility bills.

Photos

PNG and JPEG photos are read with a vision model. A scanned PDF with no text layer must be uploaded as photos.

Exports and email

CSV and LIMS exports are parsed directly. Bills can also be forwarded by email to an ingest address.

You can't report what you can't measure.

In our analysis of five major Ontario manufacturers' public reports, every one had incomplete Scope 3 reporting and relied on manual spreadsheets, and none referenced Bill C-59 methodology in its public disclosures.

01

Scope 3 is a black box

Purchased goods, upstream transport, and supply-chain emissions live in supplier invoices, MTCs, and LIMS data that nobody reconciles. Most reports stop at Scope 1 and 2.

02

Bill C-59 is now enforceable

The Competition Act lets the Competition Bureau investigate and seek administrative monetary penalties for misleading environmental claims. Penalties can reach $10M or 3% of worldwide revenue.

03

Consultants don't scale

Consultant-led carbon accounting is estimated at $50K–$100K per facility per year (our estimate) and gives you an annual snapshot. The underlying data is still unstructured when the engagement ends.

Entire teams contribute. One ledger.

Operations uploads MTCs. AP forwards fuel slips. Everyone adds to the same ledger, and every upload is attributed to the user who made it.

Role-based access

Admin, data entry, read-only, and auditor roles, each with its own permissions.

One document registry

Every document that feeds your carbon ledger is registered in one place.

Email-forward ingest

Forward bills to an ingest address without logging in.

Three layers, one ledger.

The data pipeline feeds the calculation. The calculation feeds the exposure and compliance views. Each layer reads from the same source records.

Layer 1

Data infrastructure

Reads the documents your facilities produce and normalizes them into one carbon ledger. Photos and digital PDFs for paper records, CSV and LIMS exports for systems.

  • AI extraction from MTCs, fuel slips, utility bills
  • Moisture stripping & unit normalization for LIMS data
  • CSV and LIMS import
  • Immutable audit ledger with data lineage
Layer 3

Exposure & compliance

Views for the questions lenders, auditors, and OEMs ask, with gaps shown before they are asked about.

  • OBPS and carbon pricing exposure matrix
  • Peer benchmarking against NPRI facilities
  • Gap report for each facility
  • Verifier-ready report formatting

Three regulatory and buyer pressures reach the same facilities.

Carbon claims, export charges, and supplier questionnaires now ask for the same thing: numbers that trace back to records.

Active since Jun 2025

Bill C-59

The Competition Act makes greenwashing a violation: the Competition Bureau can investigate and seek fines for unsubstantiated environmental claims. Fines of up to $10M or 3% of worldwide revenue apply to corporations.

For Ontario manufacturers: every carbon claim on your website, in your ESG report, or on a shipment needs a defensible methodology.

Definitive period: Jan 2026

CBAM

The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism has applied since October 2023, and its definitive regime began on January 1, 2026. It covers steel, cement, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen imported into the EU.

For Ontario exporters: EU importers need embedded-carbon figures tied to your production data. Default values are typically less favourable.

Voluntary framework

CSDS 1 & 2

CSDS 1 and CSDS 2 are voluntary today. They are becoming the common language that banks, auditors, and large OEM buyers use when they ask Canadian suppliers for climate data and Scope 3 numbers.

For Ontario manufacturers: the pressure arrives through lending covenants, customer questionnaires, and verifier expectations, even without a direct federal mandate yet.

Send us one source document.
We'll send back a sample report.

A one-document sample report built from your real source data, not free consulting. Use it to evaluate the pipeline before a paid pilot or full deployment.

OEMs, lenders, and auditors ask for traceable carbon numbers, not spreadsheet totals with missing assumptions.
